Gray Cake?

In this black and white composition, I wanted to have the effect of the circles drawing you in. The large, underlying circle serves as an anchor for the composition. I originally wanted the circles to be lighter and more transparent in color, but I feel that having them in a more solid form gives it more substance. As for the "rays of black," I wanted to give that effect of movement spiraling quickly towards the circles.

  1. I like the spiraling of the ray-blocks, but in my opinion I think the effect would be more complete if the ray-blocks had spiraled all the way around the circles. Just my thoughts.

    Still looks awesome. :)

  2. I like the way the rays draw your eyes to the circles. Reminds me of the painting of the "Last Supper" and how everyone is either pointing at or looking at Jesus, drawing the to that point in the picture.

It's an interesting and simple yet complex image.

  3. I enjoy the juxtaposition of the "rays of black" and the circles. However, I feel that the circles are too busy, and draw too much attention from the simple nature of the work.
